When do the effects of irradiation occur?

What will be an ideal response?

Radiation effects occur following the latent period. Assuming the dose is nonlethal, effects of radiation can occur within a short latent period (minutes, days, or weeks) or within a longer latent period (years, decades, or generations later). The latent period is determined by the type of cell and the rate of mitosis of the tissue irradiated.
