Define and explain boundary permeability.
What will be an ideal response?
Boundary permeability refers to how much information is easily passed through the boundary. Some boundaries are permeable (easy to cross), and others may be impregnable (difficult, if not impossible, to cross). An individual might feel fairly comfortable in disclosing to colleagues what she had for dinner the night before, and other colleagues are likely to reciprocate. This represents a permeable boundary. However, that same individual might be much less comfortable sharing information with colleagues about a disastrous dinner date with another colleague that turned into a romantic fiasco. When the information is located within a collective boundary the notion of permeability may be more problematic.
