Describe the characteristics of typical drinking fountains.
What will be an ideal response?
Various types of drinking fountains are available. Some are wall hung and protrude into the room, while others are recessed or semi-recessed into a wall. Freestanding and some recessed drinking fountains have a water cooling system in their base that produces temperature-controlled water. Units that provide access for the handicapped are wall mounted and have an electrically activated push-button valve on the front that requires only a light touch. Some pedestal types are designed for outdoor use and may have a foot-operated valve that is frost-proof. Stainless steel is the major material used on the surfaces exposed to water. Drinking fountains require a sanitary drain as well as a source of potable water.
