How can you integrate additional elements into broadcast writing?
What will be an ideal response?
Writing to video allows for audience members to more fully engage the content without confusion. Broadcast journalists need to write copy that introduces the soundbites, thus preparing the audience members for who will speak and what the person will say. The lead-in needs to inform the listener as to the source and content without repeating the soundbite or giving the soundbite a weak open. In addition, you must transition from the soundbite back into your script. If you need to add information to clarify the soundbite, the “out” can be a good place to do it.
