How does the MMPI identify people who might be lying to try to look good?
What will be an ideal response?
The MMPI includes true-false questions about rare virtues ("If I found a dollar on the street, I would search for its rightful owner") and common faults ("Sometimes I say something that isn't entirely true"). A person who claims many of the rare virtues and denies many of the common faults is probably lying on those items, and therefore we assume that person is lying on other items as well.
