The Constitution does not require a unanimous verdict in criminal cases. Many states and the federal system do require a unanimous verdict. Should all criminal trials be required to have unanimous verdicts? What practical issues might result?

What will be an ideal response?

All criminal trials for felonies should be required to have unanimous verdicts because
that strengthens the requirement that the finding of guilt be based on proof beyond a
reasonable doubt. This may result in more hung juries and may increase expenses of
trying criminal jury trials.
