Briefly describe the main characteristics of an authority revocation list.
What will be an ideal response?
An ARL is a special type of CRL devoted exclusively to revocation information that is associated with CAs. The issuing distribution point extension identifies a CRL as a type of ARL. Only lists of revoked CA and intermediate CA certificates are included in an ARL, and no user certificate revocation information is included. The issuer of an ARL is typically a superior CA that is responsible for revoking any intermediate CAs. The use of ARL creates a more streamlined management method for all CAs. An ARL can serve as a central place for validating any CA certificate.
