Briefly outline the purposes of the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act (UCCJEA) of 1977.

jurisdiction in interstate custody and visitation cases
Allows states to retain continuing exclusive jurisdiction once it has taken jurisdiction over a case
In cases where a child has been abandoned, abused, or neglected and is present in a state other 
than the home state, this act allows the new state temporary emergency jurisdiction over the case
Prohibits simultaneous proceedings on custody or visitation matters in more than one state or 
jurisdiction
Requires states to enforce custody and visitation orders from states that conform to UCCJEA
