Describe the store-and-forward switching method.

Store-and-forward switching method which consists of data packets forwarding at layer-2 was introduced in order to enhance the performance of the network in terms of reducing the packet-handling time (latency). In this method, the switch in the network receives data packets from the source station, drops the invalid packets, stores them in its buffer, and finally forwards the data packets to the destination. The forwarding decision is based on receiving the entire frame and checking its reliability.
