Provide a pro or con argument for the posthumanist position
The pro position might be that while human evolution is probably over, given that medicine routinely undermines natural selection, evolution is not. Humans will continue to evolve as a result of their interactions with the world and technology. Human interactions with artificial intelligence, robots, created species and chimeras, and a global Internet consciousness all break down the boundary of the body. Posthumanism is nothing more than continuing our destiny; human nature is not fixed. The future is coming whether we like it or not. The con answer will probably take the form of caution. That while the posthumanists may be right, they are too naively positive toward the future they are embracing. The decisions we are now about to make are watershed decisions, which will affect the very way we think about humans and humanity. Caution and restraint, and surely the tamping down of hubris, are what is needed rather than a rush forward to the "cyborg" world. Arguments regarding the divine nature of man, and that we should not assume God's prerogatives, could be made.
