Discuss and explain the difference between a within-subjects design and a matched pairs design.

What will be an ideal response?

In a within-subjects design, all the subjects provide more than one score, with one mean score per treatment condition. In a matched pairs design, subjects are paired based on some characteristic on which they are similar, and then one subject in each pair receives a different treatment condition. However, the data from matched designs are analyzed the same way as they are for within-subjects designs.
