It is time, once again, to review certain procedures that must be enforced for the safety of your children.
SECURITY
1. Any person other than students and faculty entering Bowling Green School between the hours of
8:30 A.M. and 3:30 P.M. must report immediately to the Security Monitor at the Reception Desk. She
will take your name and issue you a pass for the office. You must then proceed to the main office. If
you need to go anywhere else in the building, you will be requested to sign in and you will be issued
a hall pass. When your business in the building is finished, you must sign out in the office.
2. Children will be released from school ONLY to their parents or to persons authorized by their
parents on Emergency Cards. Verification may be made by telephone to the parent for confirmation
or by having the child identify the caller. No child will be released to walk home on his or her own
during the school day.
3. In general, an elementary school child will be sent home only with the parent or with another
authorized and reliable adult if the parent is not available. The person picking up the child must:
SIGN THE CHILD OUT OF SCHOOL. THE CHILD MUST IDENTIFY HIM OR HER AS A PARENT OR AUTHORIZED/RELIABLE ADULT TO THE SECRETARY. ONCE THE CHILD HAS MADE THE IDENTIFICATION, THE SECRETARY WILL THEN, AND ONLY THEN, RELEASE THE CHILD TO THE PARENT OR AUTHORIZED/RELIABLE ADULT.
4. In cases of family dispute, a legal order prohibiting any party from visiting with or taking the child
from school will be honored. In any event, the custodial parent will be notified if said request is made.
5. Children will be released for days of religious observance upon request of their parent. A note signed by the parent or guardian must be delivered prior to the day of observation.

6. Teachers have been instructed not to admit unauthorized visitors to the classroom without a pass
from the office.
7. Students arriving late to school must first check in at the main office and then go to the Nurse’s
Office. They may not go directly to their classroom.
8. PARENTS ARE NOT PERMITTED TO USE THE REAR PARKING LOTS FOR DROP OFF OR PICK UP OF STUDENTS AND MAY NOT ENTER VIA THE CUSTODIAL DOORS
