Describe the process and uses of thermographic inspection.

What will be an ideal response?

The most accurate means of measuring heat loss through walls and ceilings is by means of a thermographic
inspection. Thermography measures surface temperatures using infrared video and still cameras. These tools record
heat as light so that images on the video or film record the temperature variations of a building's skin. Colors range
from white for warm regions to black for cooler areas. The resulting images tell an auditor whether additional
insulation is needed. They also serve as a quality control tool, to ensure that insulation has been installed correctly.
