Explain why ethnographic research requires a longer investment of time than most other data-gathering methods.

What will be an ideal response?

ANS: Ethnographers seek in-depth information and must develop rapport with their informants to do so. This is not likely to occur through minimal, casual exchanges but rather through a slowly developed process of relationship building. There is also a requisite level of trust that must be reached especially if informants have had previous negative experiences of researchers. For both reasons, ethnography takes more time than do other data-gathering techniques.
