Explain the difference between true ribs, false ribs, and floating ribs

What will be an ideal response?

Ribs 1-7 are called true ribs (or vertebrosternal ribs) because they attach directly to the sternum via their own costal cartilage. Ribs 8-12 are called false ribs because they do not attach to the sternum directly. Instead, the cartilage of ribs 8-10 (the vertebrochondral ribs) attach to the cartilage of the seventh rib. Ribs 11 and 12 are called floating ribs (or vertebral ribs) because they lack any attachment to the sternum.
