Compare and contrast the role of trust in traditional media and social media. How does the production model of each influence the relationship between content producers and consumers?

What will be an ideal response?

In the traditional one-to-many media model, trust in reporters is essentially forced on readers. Because there are very few media outlets in this model, audiences are not able to choose which information source bests suits them, nor are they able to contrast the reporting from one outlet against a host of other sources of information to determine which outlet is most trustworthy. In the social media era, the one-to-many model has become a many-to-many model, and readers can choose from an almost infinite array of media outlets. Readers not only have a choice of where to get their news, but they can also bestow authority and trust based on which reporters provide valuable and accurate information most consistently.
