How does the refractory period of action potentials influence the frequency of action potential firing

What will be an ideal response

Answer: Absolute refractory period is one during when the new action potential cannot be propogated and hence strong stimuli is needed for subsequent one. Therefore, the duration of the absolute refractory period ultimately decides the frequency of firing.
