How does Lamarck's proposed method of evolution differ from Darwin's?

What will be an ideal response?

Lamarck proposed that individuals adapted. Modifications an individual made were passed to the offspring. Darwin's theory dealt with variations in a population. Those variations that provided an advantage to individuals in the population enabled those individuals to reproduce and pass those advantageous traits on to their offspring.
