Explain the concern and controversy over technology for young children.

What will be an ideal response?

The American Academy of Pediatrics suggests no screen time for very young kids (i.e., less than 2) and limited time (no more than 2 hours a day) for children over the age of 2. Concerns with young children and technology exist regarding decreased academic achievement, lower cognitive or language development, fewer and/or lower quality interactions with adults, and increased potential for obesity. However, some researchers argue that technology does not result in negative implications for young children, including no cognitive, behavioral, or health effects. Another voice in the conversation suggests it is not the technology but the content.
