Discuss several types of persuasive communication you might be required to write or present in your professional and personal life


In a person's professional life, he or she will be involved in persuasion in the job seeking arena in terms of convincing the interviewer to hire him or her. Persuasive communication also will be required in writing persuasive messages on the job, depending on his or her position. He or she may be in a supervisory position who will need to motivate his or her workers; he or she may also have to write and present persuasive communication regarding job promotions, requests for funding, etc. If the person is involved in sales, most of his or her presentations to outside audiences will be persuasive.

Additionally, in one's personal life, he or she will be involved in persuasive communication in terms of selecting a spouse or nurturing an existing relationship. The person also will have to use persuasive communication to children to get them to accept decisions made on their behalf and in communication with other family members. For example, persuasive communication is needed in coordinating entire families to gather for family reunions, etc.
