Explain the purpose of domestic violence courts.
What will be an ideal response?
Domestic violence courts were established to process cases of intimate partner violence more efficiently. These courts focus on rehabilitation and deterrence with the primary goals of victim safety and offender accountability. Domestic violence courts partner with judges, health-care workers, police, prosecutors, and treatment providers and focus on the victim and provide advocacy services, assistance with obtaining orders of protection, and some assurance of physical safety in the courtroom.
