Discuss President Roosevelt's proposal to change the U.S. Supreme Court. Why was this implementation important?

What will be an ideal response?

In 1937 Roosevelt proposed the Judiciary Reorganization Bill of 1937 which called for additional Supreme Court judges for every current judge that was over the age of 70 and a half, with a maximum of up to six more justices. He was planning to "stack" the Supreme Court with justices that would support his New Deal measures. The proposal failed. It was important because it showed the power that a President maintains. With the Supreme Court being inundated with cases, maybe it is time to add additional justices.
