Marketing and Engineering teams would determine what benefits are to be delivered to the customer with input from customer surveys. From this, important specifications would be extracted. The requirements and product specifications would be input into a house of quality matrix and evaluated against several competitive products. The product specifications would be iterated until a desirable output score was achieved against the competition, of course, subject to any design constraints.
Other options for the evaluation include using Decision and Pugh’s matrices. There are no incorrect answers here as long as the student chooses one or more methods and explains their logic.
