Why is recycling in the steel industry so popular?

What will be an ideal response?

The steel industry has been engaged in recycling for more than a century because it is economically advantageous. It is less costly to recycle steel than to mine iron ore and process it to form new steel. Steel loses none of its inherent physical properties during the recycling process, and the energy and material requirements for recycling are far less than those for iron ore refining.
