Why is intelligence-led policing an important concept?

What will be an ideal response?

Intelligence is needed to combat both terrorism and crime. Police simply need to find out who the bad guys are and how they plan to harm the community in order for police to do the police job of protecting the community. Large scale murder and murder during a bank robbery is still murder and demands the use of intelligence and investigative tools. Through analysis, information is turned into useful intelligence for preventing and solving acts of terrorism and crime. This approach has proved useful in the past in dealing with organized crimes, street gangs and drug dealers. Terrorism has been added to the list with federal funds, the assigning of more police resources and information and intelligence sharing with local state and federal security and police agencies. New York City police has been a leading advocate of the use of police intelligence and even have officers stationed overseas. There is an increasing concern among some police scholars that too many police resources have been shifted from crime and service calls to intelligence and terrorism.
