Explain why children today often deal with fears of being powerless.
What will be an ideal response?
Today, children often fear being powerless because there are so many destructive elements that are out of their control. Some of these elements include the threat of nuclear or biological warfare, guided missiles, and global warming. The media constantly stoke these fears, and children often cannot help being exposed to this fear-mongering by the media. For children, these destructive elements are things that even their parents cannot take care of. There seems to be no real safety.
