What are some of the limitations of MAC address filtering?
What will be an ideal response?
Like turning off SSID beaconing, MAC address filtering has several limitations:
* Managing a large number of MAC addresses is difficult and can create avenues for attackers.
* MAC address filtering does not provide a means to temporarily allow a guest user to access the network other than acquiring the MAC address and entering it manually into the access point.
* WLANs initially exchange MAC addresses in cleartext.
* A MAC address can be "spoofed" or substituted.
