Historical method is the analysis of historical documents, such as newspapers, memoirs, and reports of films from a specific time period. Historical methods would be an appropriate method for understanding the role of gender and race in the Jim Crow era. For example, one could explore how Black women treated during this time and how this treatment differed from men. These are narratives and experiences that are less known compared to how Black men were treated during this era.
