What can be the role of relay stations in providing secured communication in the 806.16j protocol?
What will be an ideal response?
The signal strength in the boundary area of WiMAX technology may be quite weak and to enhance the coverage close to the boundary regions, relay stations are employed to act as a secondary Base Station. This helps in enhancing the quality of signal and could even expand the coverage area. Here, the relay stations act as a secondary BS and a mobile user may be connected to the BS or the relay station, depending on its relative location in the area. In such a situation, if the BS can only do authentication, then the user connected to a relay station have to get authentication by the BS via the relay station. Therefore, some scheme need to be devised which can delegate authentication operation to
even the relation station.
