Describe a collapsed hinge buckle.

What will be an ideal response?

A collapsed hinge buckle is a hinge buckle that extends through a stamped-in reinforced flange, bead, or ridge on a panel. As the hinge buckle passes through a ridge or bead, the overall length of the panel is shortened. This causes tension in the outer edges of a panel and places the hinge area under pressure. If the tension is relieved by pulling on the outer tension areas and gently hammering on the high parts of the hinge, the center low areas could be relieved without too much difficulty. On the other hand, if one tries to remove the buckle by hammering or passing on the lowest area, the steel will stretch and it will eventually need to be shrunk to bring it back to its original shape.

Hibra, an EE student who is also taking a business minor, is studying depreciation in her engineering management and finance courses. The assignment in both classes is to demonstrate that shorter recovery periods require the same total taxes, but they offer a time-value-of-taxes advantage for depreciable assets. Help her using asset estimates made for a 6-year study period: P = $65,000, S =$5000, GI = $32,000 per year, AOC = $10,000 per year, SL depreciation, i = 12% per year, and Te = 31%. (a) Perform the comparison using recovery periods of 3 and 6 years. (b) Develop the spreadsheet solution. (c) For a spreadsheet function challenge, construct a single-cell function to determine the PW of taxes for the 3-year and 6-year analyses.

A radio receiver has an input resistance of 300 ?. When it is connected directly to an antenna system with a characteristic impedance of 75 ?, an impedance mismatch occurs. By inserting an impedance-matching transformer ahead of the receiver, maximum power can be realized. Calculate the required turns ratio.
