If you decided to give lipids, how much would you give and what flow rate would you use?
Usually 30% of total kcals, but sometimes as much as 50% or 60% are used. Lipids are usually given over 18-24 hrs. In my personal experience I have observed better tolerance if about 6 hrs were allowed for lipids to clear from the blood. In other words, infuse over 18 hrs and wait 6 hrs before starting another bottle. The best way is the one that the patient tolerates best.
