What is the role of test data? What is a base case?
Test data is hypothetical data with known results. The test data is run through the system to verify the processing occurs correctly. Test data should test all aspects of the new system including error capture. When a thorough set of test data is developed, it is saved to document system performance at the time of testing. This is the base case. It can therefore be compared to results of test data after system modification.
