Define cosmopolitanism.

The term cosmopolitan describes an attitude or a perspective that incorporates mindfulness, human dignity, and moral inclusion. Cosmopolitans view themselves as citizens of the world with global obligations. If we adopt this perspective, we will honor the intrinsic value of all people, not just members of our immediate group, and will seek to establish a just global society. While maintaining our identification with a particular region or culture, we will not be bound by all of its values and customs. Instead, we will acknowledge our group’s shortcomings while, at the same time, appreciating the value of other cultural approaches and recognizing that everyone shares an “essential humanity.”
