What are the differences between intentional and unintentional plagiarism?

What will be an ideal response?

Students who intentionally plagiarize often do so because they are lazy, poor managers of time, or not confident in their ability to do well on their own. Students who unintentionally plagiarize tend to be poor note-takers and poor writers; they may also fail to cite references correctly. Whether students plagiarize unintentionally or otherwise, they are still subject to the same academic sanctions.
