Explain how money laundering works, and what happens to money once it is laundered.

What will be an ideal response?

Money laundering can be accomplished in a number of ways:

An organization can take dirty money and give it to a legitimate business to make it
appear that the money was received through the business.
An organization can choose to pay someone else to launder the money.
Once money has been turned into clean money, it can be freely used, spent, and transformed into such financial instruments as letters of credit, bonds, other securities, bank notes, and guarantees that can be used and accessed anywhere in the world. Once the money appears legitimate, it is impossible to detect it as laundered money.
