What does strategic interaction mean? Illustrate this using an example (either verbal, mathematical, or graphical).
What will be an ideal response?
Ans: Strategic interaction means that each player makes decisions based on her anticipation of what the other players will do, and she weighs the consequences of alternative courses of action and chooses the one that maximizes her utility.
An example is a sequential game, in which each player looks down the tree to try and anticipate the choices of the other players. Another example is the Chicken Game, in which each player considers the possible consequences of swerving and of going straight. If a player anticipates that another player is going to continue to go straight, then she is better off swerving. If a player anticipates that her opponent will swerve, then she is better off going straight.
