What is a down-feed potable system and where is it used?
What will be an ideal response?
Tall multistory buildings utilize a down-feed potable hot and cold water distribution system. Water from the central system is pumped from a street main or water storage suction tank to a roof storage tank with one or more pumps. This storage tank also holds a reserve for the fire-suppression system and a supply of potable water for fixtures. The water flows from a header pipe to down-feed risers from which branch water lines run to fixtures on each floor. Very tall buildings usually are divided into several zones, each having its own pumps and storage tanks.
