What is the conceptual relationship between the Stages of Change model and the MDF assessment process?
What will be an ideal response?
Ans: Given the purpose of the MDF assessment process, the social worker strives to understand why the client is seeking help for a particular problem or challenge. The social worker, with the client system, will explore the stage of change he/she/family is experiencing and their motivation for change. If the client is highly motivated to address his issues, then it may be less difficult to explore the underlying problem(s) and develop specific action plans. Everyone hopes that the client maintains the energy/motivation to change and achieves his/her goal(s).
