Why is using a lumped heat capacity model for melting or freezing a sphere acceptable?

What will be an ideal response?

During melting or freezing the temperature a sphere is theoretically uniform
throughout and this indicates an infinite or very high effective conduction as
compared to the convection the sphere’s surface and giving a very low Biot
number, less than 0.1.
