Compare and contrast norm-referenced and criterion-referenced tests

What will be an ideal response?

When norm-referenced tests are used, scores for individuals and groups are compared with the average score obtained from a sample of the target population. Percentiles, stanines, and grade equivalent scores are common ways to report results of standardized tests. Criterion-referenced tests compare individual raw scores with a specific standard or expectation. A set cut score may show the standard expected for a test.
