Compare and contrast the three types of color-blindness, including what the world might look like to a person who is affected.
What will be an ideal response?
The three types of color blindness are protanopia, deuteranopia, and tritanopia. Protanopia and deuteranopia are similar in that they involve a confusion of the colors red and green. For a person with either of these, the world consists of yellows and blues. In protanopia, the red cones are filled with green opsin. Similarly, for deuteranopia, the green cones are filled with red opsin. Tritanopia is different; these individuals see the world in reds and greens. Rather than having cones filled with incorrect opsin, these individuals lack blue cones entirely.
