Explain how social justice is consistent and/or nonconsistent with the deep ecology theory.

What will be an ideal response?

Ans: Social justice by its very definition excludes the natural world. The profession of social work can also reshape social justice, which many believe to be at the center of our value-base, and instead refer to an ecologically sensitive justice which views the natural world on equal footing with humanity. Some scholars in social work have already called for this reframing of social justice into ecological justice (Besthorn, 2013; Besthorn, Koenig, Spano & Warren, in press). Further, ecological, green, ecofeminist approaches requires us to examine the connections between social problems and the unequal distribution of the planet’s resources which unduly affect quality of life for poor and marginalized populations.
