A fair coin is tossed five times. Which sequence is more likely, HTTHH or HHHHH? Or are they equally likely? Explain.

What will be an ideal response?

Since the coin is fair, P(H) = P(T) = 1/2. The tosses are independent.

So P(HTTHH) = P(H)P(T)P(T)P(H)P(H) = = 1/32, and

P(HHHHH) = P(H)P(H)P(H)P(H)P(H) = = 1/32 as well.
