Even with all the positive tendencies and biases, negative factors have a strong impact on behavior, a paradox. To help explain these paradoxical effects, Cameron (2008a) offered his explanation. What was it?
What will be an ideal response?
Cameron stated that both inclinations, positive and negative, are evolutionarily adapted but operate in different ways particularly with respect to intensity and since most of life’s events are positive, a negative event is somewhat unique. Just like movement in a still room can attract attention, novel events capture more attention than normal ones. Negative events often indicate maladaptation and a need to change. One single negative thing can cause a system to fail but one single positive thing cannot guarantee success.
