In the series configuration, the vehicle is moved by the power of a single source, the electric motor. The ICE in a series hybrid never drives the vehicle, rather it drives a generator. The generator, in turn, charges the batteriesIn a parallel hybrid, the electric motor and ICE work together (in parallel) to power the vehicle.
