Please explain the theory of cultural proximity.?

What will be an ideal response?

ANSWER:
Cultural proximity is the desire for cultural products as similar as possible to one's own language, culture, history, and values. Thus, even though people often like the cosmopolitan appeal of some European or American television, movies, and music, they tend to choose most of their media from their own or a similar culture because it is more familiar and interesting to them.
