Discuss the origin of love from an evolutionary perspective

What will be an ideal response?

In order to survive, our ancient ancestors were small in number, so it was crucial that they reproduce successfully. Some suggest that reproductive success would be more likely if heterosexual pairs were erotically attracted to one another, and if they were willing to invest time and effort in feeding and protecting any offspring they produce. These two basic features of love—desire and commitment—grew out of conditions that made love an important adaptation for our species.
