Why are participant individual differences removed from within-group sum of squares to calculate error sum of squares?
What will be an ideal response?
Ans: Because in a repeated-measures design, people contribute to all groups means. Therefore, individual differences among people in our sample do not have as much of an effect on the dependent variable as they do in a between-subjects design. Therefore, we remove them from the calculation of within-groups variability.
