Why and how are media representations of policing different from reality? What kinds of issues do patrol officers tend to deal with instead?

What will be an ideal response?

Books, movies, and television shows romanticize police officers as fearless crime fighters who think little of their own safety as they engage in daily high-speed chases and shootouts. Media rarely show the less thrilling side of police work, creating the impression that all officers are often involved in crime-related activities. In truth, most of an officer's time is spent peacekeeping and responding to minor disturbances, service calls, and administrative duties. The average officer will make around two arrests a month and only one felony arrest per year. For a patrol officer, this means spending a lot of time as a community problem solver.
