What is the Sapir-Whorf hypothesis? Provide at least two examples of how the Sapir-Whorf hypothesis impacts our perceptions of the world

The Sapir-Whorf hypothesis states that language creates ways of thinking and perceiving our social world. It indicates that rather than objects and events forcing themselves onto our consciousness, it is language that determines our consciousness. For example, some cultures have no word for being "early" or "late," so no one is ever early or late, they just arrive when it was intended. Similarly, other cultures have no word for "violence" and as a result they are a much more peaceful and docile society.
